Rounds Coach: Interval Timer
Why doesn't the Lock Screen show the name of the current interval?
iOS only lets a locked app update its Lock Screen card a couple of times, then ignores it. So the card shows what iOS can keep up to date by itself: the time left in the whole workout, and a strip where each interval fills in as it runs. The timer, the beeps and the coach keep going the whole time. Open Rounds to see the interval name.
The timer or coach stops when I lock my phone
Make sure your iPhone isn't muted with the volume all the way down, and that Rounds is still open in the background (don't swipe it away in the app switcher during a workout).
Using my own music (Spotify, Apple Music, podcasts)
Start your music in any app, then start your timer. Rounds lowers the music while the coach talks — turn that off in Settings if you prefer. To pause the music during rests, open the timer and turn on "Pause my music during rests". Pausing the workout pauses your music too, and it comes back when you resume. If you press play in your music app during a rest, Rounds lets it play.
Saving workouts to Apple Health
Turn on "Save workouts to Apple Health" in Rounds' Settings and allow access when asked. A workout is saved when it lasts at least a minute. Choose each timer's workout type under Apple Health in the timer's editor.
Getting Rounds on Apple Watch
Open the Watch app on your iPhone, find Rounds under Available Apps and tap Install. Your timers appear on the watch automatically.
My own exercise names sound different from the coach
The coach's voice is recorded, so names you type yourself are read by the iPhone's built-in voice. Everything else — rounds, work, rest, what's next — is the coach.
